Newsletter Title:  A Wild Decade recap and World Wide Weekend news

Newsletter Date:  May 28, 2008

Hello WDWCelebrations Newsletter Subscribers!

After a fantastic "A Wild Decade" event, the WDWCelebrations Team took a little time to recover, but now we're back!  In this issue, we'll quickly recap the event, with information on where to find photos and reports.  In addition, for those unable to attend the event, we have a special opportunity for you to obtain a little memoir of the day!  Finally, we've got a bit of information about one of our special events planned for "World Wide Weekend."

With over 400 registered attendees, including a delegation from Walt Disney Imagineering, "A Wild Decade" began bright and early on April 22.  Special events included a rededication ceremony with renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, a talk by legendary Imagineer Joe Rohde, our ever-popular History Walk which began with a warm welcome from Val Bunting, the Vice President of Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park, a group meal with reserved space at Flame Tree Barbeque, and the presentation of what we hope to be the first of many donations to Lou Mongello's DisneyWorldTrivia.com Dream Team Project which benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America. In addition, the schedule included group experiences of Finding Nemo The Musical, Expedition Everest, and Dinosaur (which to the delight of all had some serious issues during our ride!).

The “A Wild Decade” page in our Event Archives has a listing of many websites providing coverage of the event, including Deb Wills of AllEars.Net and Lou Mongello of DisneyWorldTrivia.com and the WDW Radio Show. Links to several versions of the group photo are included, as well as links to the full audio and transcript of Joe Rohde’s presentation available at DisneyWorldTrivia.com.

If you were unable to attend, but are looking for a bit of memorabilia from the event, we've got a solution, and you’ll be helping us with our charity initiative at the same time! We have some extra copies of the “A Wild Decade” event schedule postcards. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation in the name of Deb Wills through the WDWCelebrations Charity Initiative can receive two of the schedules. Here’s what to do:
Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: WDWCelebrations, c/o Jason Diffendal, 2345 Diane Ct., Pottstown, PA 19464. Include a donation of any dollar amount to the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation and we’ll send you two schedules from the event. Please send cash, as it makes it much easier for us to keep everything together as it arrives. If you’d prefer to make a larger donation, please email us and we’ll make further arrangements. We’ll publish the total donation amount in a future issue of this newsletter.

In case you’re wondering about our next event, “World Wide Weekend,” a WDWCelebrations Signature Event, September 26-28, 2008, we’ve got some news! We’re working with Disney to confirm a number of special events for the weekend, but we have some details for you on our “Dive, Dine, Discover” at The Seas with Nemo and Friends. This will take place on Saturday, September 27. The “Dive” element includes a special DiveQuest experience exclusively for WDWCelebrations event guests. (Current open-water scuba certification required.) If you’re not ready to take the plunge, the “Dine” and “Discover” elements include an exclusive private meal at the Seas Lounge and a very special after-hours exclusive experience with Crush the sea turtle. More details, including how to sign up for “Dive, Dine, Discover,” will be forthcoming. We! ’ll also be updating the schedule as we are able to confirm events with Disney, and we'll have more information on the perks of our Premium Registration Option for "World Wide Weekend" coming soon.
